109 different species of the birds are reported to exist in Nelliyampathy reserve forest . Most of these birds are a great attraction of our resort in the Western Ghats Endemic Bird Area. Globally threatened Nilgiri Wood-Pigeon Columba Elphinstone is found in our estate but it is not common. Broad-tailed Grass- Warbler or Grassbird Schoenicola platyura, Threatened Nilgiri Pipit Anthus nilghiriensis. also listed in our estate. The heavily overgrazed shola grassland areas in our boundries is the main reason for the presence of these rare birds . Great Pied Hornbill (Buceros bicornis) locally known as malamuzhakki vezhambal which is seen only in western ghats tops the list.
